One of my favorite things about cards is when they depict guys using the phone. I know I have a few baseball versions of this - Cal Ripken Jr. and Fred McGriff immediately come to mind. But here are two from the NFL:
To the left is Sean Salisbury, former backup QB, ESPN dude, and Deadspin rival. To the right is David Carr, former starting QB, and current backup QB for the San Fransisco 49ers (after the end of this past week's 49ers-Panthers game, where Carr threw a 2 yard dump off on the final play, the 49ers rightly decided to start Troy Smith instead).
My question is: Could Carr be calling the past (aka Salisbury) to discuss the backup lifestyle? Or is Salisbury dialing up Carr on the sidelines, encouraging him to avoid ESPN like the plague, lest he get in trouble in his post-NFL career. Ah time travel...
Ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring...QUARTERBACKPHONE!
ReplyDeleteOne of my cards that I love is a 1995 Andres Galarraga one where someone is holding a cell phone to his ear. It looks like the huge Zack Morris phone from Saved By the Bell
