Great Sports Name Hall of Fame Nominee - Cortland Finnegan

All thanks go to TheBaker of Rumors and Rants for this post.

Now don't get me wrong, as Finnegan is a talented player and a great name. I mean Cortland Finnegan is probably one of the most Irish names you could ever make up. And the guy started the 2009 Pro Bowl across from fellow corner Nnamdi Asomugha, which has to be the greatest set of cornerbacks names to play at the same time in the history of the NFL. AND there's this lovely karaoke video of Mr. Finnegan. So a lot of reasons for him to make the Hall as is.

But then Rumors and Rants mentioned this beauty of a factoid. Cortland Finnegan's middle name is Temujin. Which is the same middle name of a certain Genghis Khan. Why does this random dude from Florida have a Mongolian middle name between his super Irish first and last name? Who knows, not TheBaker, not me. But it certainly makes for a pretty great name, and so Cortland Finnegan, welcome to Ballot 3 of the Great Sports Name Hall of Fame.

By the way, How Many of Me believes there is only one Cortland Finnegan in the world.

Considering that there's 1,531 Cortlands and 8,971 Finnegans, I find this hard to believe. So if you're reading this and your name is Cortland Finnegan, give us a hello in the comments.
