Seems a bit funny since my last update mentioned Tony's recent lack of success, but between now and then, Tony has moved up from AA's Richmond Flying Squirrels to AAA's Fresno Grizzlies! That's right folks - Tony Pena Jr., former Major League Short Stop, is now one stop away from pitching full time in the big leagues as well!
Sadly, his AAA stats so far leave a lot to be desired. He has been scored on in 5 of 6 games, and the only game where he wasn't scored on was a one batter appearance. In 7.1 innings he has given up 14 hits, 4 walks, and 11 runs overall, with just 6 strikeouts to show for it. Batters are also hitting an absurd .389 off of him, which simply won't get it done.
So, bad start to AAA so far for Tony, but maybe he'll turn it around? Considering that his first AAA appearance inflates much of his stat line, I'm thinking/hoping that he can! So congratulations Tony on your promotion to AAA, and keep up the good work! The GSNHOF is pulling for you!
