Weird Collection Idea That I'm Throwing Around: One of Every Player...EVER.

As I debated adding Justin Germano to my ever growing "random cards I want" list and then read through Night Owl's post on 2004 Topps Total, a slight chuckle came over me as I thought to myself, "Geez, why don't I just collect every guy who was ever on a baseball card?"

And then I really considered it.

Now, I don't think I'd really want to do it - there are too many guys I wouldn't care about (particuarly all of the Yankees cards), it'd be expensive (especially vintage), it'd be nearly impossible to collect-em-all (I feel like I would only count cards from pre-retirement, so a Honus Wagner is out of the picture), and so forth. But it is sort of a cool collection idea IMO. Just imagine it: One card of every guy who ever had a card, from the dawn of card time to today. Anyone else ever thought of this, or something similarly crazy?

  1. It might be fun, but if budget is a concern you could always make the cutoff the year that you were born.

  2. I trade cards with someone that is trying to collect one card of every player to ever play for the Red Sox. So it is probably doable if you limit yourself to one team.
