Just a Really Nice Looking Card - 1995 Upper Deck Special Edition #SE19 Ricky Watters

I was a big Ricky Watters fan growing up, mainly because I liked crappy teams as a kid and the Eagles fit that bill to a t in the mid to late 90's (pre-McNabb). Though this card doesn't feature Ricky in his pre-Eagle days, it's one card I've hung on to for a long time because it just looks so damn cool. Seriously, click on the image to enlarge it, because it's a great looking shot:
This Special Edition Set came courtesy of the great Walter Iooss, and I think it's awesome. The crowd, Ricky's pose, the cheerleaders, the sky - everything comes together real nice. Definitely one of my favorite card images in my collection.

  1. Yeah, that's nice and all, but I've got the 2010 Topps Chrome version of that. I scanned it for you and put it up here: http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s184/caljr3000/WattersSpecialEdition.jpg

  3. Yeah man, it wasn't easy to get, though--I only pulled three cards from that pack instead of four (and they were all the same) so I had to wait 6 months to get that from Topps. Crazy, huh?

In all seriousness, that's a sweet card alright, as is anything featuring a Iooss photo. This is the kind of base card that does deserve its own spotlight.

  4. lolololol. I totally went to that link - niiiice. It would look sweet in Chrome though, maybe they should bring him back and let him have at it?

  5. Why not? Topps likes to re-use photos. Don't be ragging on my BGS 9 Watters card, though--it got a 9.5 in centering after there was a big story about it on Beckett.com.

  6. Haha I did like the centering. I would've even said a 9 - and those corners are pristine!
